Wine Smith and JSL Wines were founded by Joseph and Lorraine Smith, alongside their daughter Sanaya, as an expression of their shared love for wine, culture, and entrepreneurship. Built on the belief that wine is best enjoyed through connection and storytelling, Wine Smith was created as a welcoming space to learn, gather, and explore wine in Belize.

Rhyan Smith is the General Manager of Wine Smith, having joined the team in 2019. With over 12 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including his time with The Coppola Hideaways in Belize, Rhyan brings a deep understanding of service, leadership, and guest experience to the brand. As the brother of winemaker Joseph Smith, his connection to wine is both personal and professional. Rhyan is passionate about educating guests on Wine Smith’s portfolio and is known for creating a warm, welcoming environment for all who walk through the door. What he enjoys most about the wine industry is how wine has the ability to elevate every dining experience.
Johan Bermudez is the Sales Manager at Wine Smith and has been part of the team since its inception in 2019. With a background in sales and logistics gained through his experience at Big H and Bowen & Bowen, Johan brings strong operational insight and a results-driven mindset to the brand. Inspired by his uncle, winemaker Joseph Smith, Johan joined the wine industry with a curiosity for growth and discovery. He believes that every day in Belize’s wine industry brings something new to learn, and he is passionate about building meaningful relationships through wine.
Bryton Young is a Sales Representative at Wine Smith, having joined the team in 2023. With a background in the culinary and hospitality industry, Bryton began his journey in the tasting room, where his growing wine knowledge, strong work ethic, and natural aptitude for sales quickly stood out. His dedication led to his promotion into sales, where he continues to thrive. Bryton enjoys seeing wine culture grow in Belize and is always seeking opportunities to expand his knowledge and evolve within the industry.
Ann Smith-Zetina is the Tasting Room Manager at Wine Smith and has been an integral part of the team since the doors first opened in 2019. As Joseph Smith’s sister, Ann is deeply rooted in the family-run nature of the business. With a background in hospitality and a strong culinary passion, she brings Wine Smith’s tasting room to life through her signature charcuterie boards, featuring her homemade peppa jelly and smoked chicken. Ann also plays a key role in the planning and execution of events at Wine Smith, ensuring each experience feels thoughtful and memorable. Known for transforming the space for special occasions through décor and ambiance, she has a deep appreciation for wine tasting and enjoys discovering how each wine can elevate culinary experiences — especially when sharing wines crafted by her brother with guests.
Michelle Moore is the Marketing Manager at Wine Smith, having joined the team in 2022. She brings extensive sales and marketing experience from Belize’s beverage industry, having worked with Bowen & Bowen brands including Coca-Cola, Landshark, and Heineken. At Wine Smith, Michelle plays a key role in shaping the guest experience from the planning stage through execution, with a strong focus on storytelling and education. Her favorite part of the wine industry is introducing wine to new drinkers—watching first-time tasters discover that they enjoy wine and become genuinely curious about it.
